Many young people decide to start studies after their secondary school exams. However, they can choose not only the subject they want to study, but also the university they want to attend. The options and programs offered by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HsKA), and Karlsruhe Cooperative State University (DHBW KA) will be presented at a joint event. The information event “Welche Hochschule passt zu mir?” (Which university suits me best) will take place on Thursday, March 28, 2019, 18 o’ clock on the Campus South of KIT (entrance hall of building 11.30, Engelbert-Arnold-Straße 2).

DHBW Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe Cooperative State University), established in 1979 as Karlsruhe Vocational Academy, is a location of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University. With 34,000 students, DHBW is the largest higher education institution in Baden-Württemberg. It is organized in line with the US state university model. More than 3000 students are currently enrolled at DHBW Karlsruhe in the fields of business administration, engineering, and computer science. As an innovative academic education institution, it is an integral part of the science spectrum of Karlsruhe. Studies at DHBW Karlsruhe are characterized by alternating theoretical phases at the university and practical phases at a company. This dual principle ensures optimal preparation of students for later professional activity.

With about 8,000 students, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest universities of this kind in Baden-Württemberg and has a strong focus on research. In renowned rankings by WirtschaftsWoche or the CHE University Ranking of the ZEIT Study Guide, it has achieved very good results for years now. Practical application and international orientation are of high priority in academic education. As a rule, practical study semesters and graduation theses for the bachelor’s degree are accomplished at companies. At this stage, many students already meet their future employer. The quality of studies is also reflected by the good faculty-student ratio. The students learn in small groups and are supported by a number of tutorials. Students can participate in research projects at an early stage.

Being “The Research University in the Helmholtz Association”, KIT creates and imparts knowledge for the society and the environment. It is the objective to make significant contributions to the global challenges in the fields of energy, mobility, and information. For this, about 10,000 employees cooperate in a broad range of disciplines in natural sciences, engineering sciences, economics, and the humanities and social sciences. KIT prepares its 22,800 students for responsible tasks in society, industry, and science by offering research-based study programs. Innovation efforts at KIT build a bridge between important scientific findings and their application for the benefit of society, economic prosperity, and the preservation of our natural basis of life. KIT is one of the German universities of excellence.
