The annual NEULAND Innovation Day creates a platform for everyone interested in inventions, startups or technology transfer at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). On Wednesday, July 10, 2019 from 9 am lectures, a founder pitch, a panel discussion and an innovation exhibition will give visitors the opportunity of exchanging experience, gathering new ideas and finding collaboration partners. The highlight of the evening will be the “Artificial Intelligence & Cloud” keynote speech by Dr. Wieland Holfelder, Vice President Engineering at Google Germany GmbH and head of the development center in Munich. Interested members of the public and the media are cordially invited. (Information on how to register in the text.)
“At KIT, great research results are created which shouldn’t disappear in a drawer but have to be put into application as quickly as possible,” says Professor Thomas Hirth, Vice President for Innovation and International Affairs at KIT. “With the innovation day we bring together different interest groups and promote exchange between science, industry and society.” Visitors to the all-day event can put together their individual program from over 20 seminars and workshops – ranging from tips for founders and impetus for industrial collaborations to lectures focused on “Artificial Intelligence” and “Climate & Environment”.
Innovation Day Highlights
This year, a panel discussion on the subject of “Shaping the future with innovation. Expectations and contributions from industry and science” will take place for the first time. A format which has already been established is the founder pitch where five young startups present their business ideas and try to win over the jury and the audience. There is also the option of participating in a guided tour through the innovation exhibition where research groups and startups demonstrate state-of-the-art technologies. Among the things to be showcased are an autonomous robot, software for simultaneous speech recognition, an app for sleep improvement and a breeding system for insects.
Apart from the presentation of the founder awards, the evening program will include the “Artificial Intelligence & Cloud” keynote speech by Dr. Wieland Holfelder, Vice President Engineering at Google Germany GmbH and head of the development center in Munich. Following his speech, Dr. Holfelder will be happy to answer questions from the audience.
