Good marks in the ranking: After graduation, KIT students are prepared
well for the job.

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) produces excellent graduates in the fields of economic engineering, information science, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. This is the result of a current ranking by the Handelsblatt Magazine “Junge Karriere” (Young Career). It is based on interviews of personnel managers from companies of all branches.

Which universities prepare their students best for professional routine? This was the question asked by the Handelsblatt Magazine “Junge Karriere” to more than 500 personnel managers from enterprises all over Germany. Of all German universities, the KIT was ranked second in economic engineering and third in information science. In electrical engineering and mechanical engineering the KIT was found to be in fourth place. The survey was based on a representative average of all branches. Personnel managers were asked for their experience regarding the best graduates in economically relevant subjects.

The KIT has accomplished pioneer work in both research and education in economic engineering and information science: The Faculty of Information Science established at Universität Karlsruhe (TH) in 1972 is the oldest in Germany. The interdisciplinary studies course of economic engineering was established in the late 60s al-ready. The successes of the graduates in their profession and the excellent ranking by the personnel managers confirm the high practical relevance of the studies at KIT. For the complete university ranking, see the May issue of Handelsblatt “Junge Karriere”.

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is the merger of the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, member of the Helmholtz Association, and the Universität Karlsruhe. This merger will give rise to an institution of internationally excellent research and teaching in natural and engineering sciences. In total, the KIT has 8000 employees and an annual budget of 700 million Euros. The KIT focuses on the knowledge triangle of research – teaching – innovation.

The Karlsruhe institution is a leading European energy research center and plays a visible role in nanosciences worldwide. KIT sets new standards in teaching and pro-motion of young scientists and attracts top scientists from all over the world. Moreover, KIT is a leading innovation partner of industry.
