Tell me, ITAS - How save is save enough?
Information Events
Karl9 - Wissenschaftslokal für Technik und Gesellschaft
Karlstraße 9 …
Sophie Kuppler

What is safety?

Safety is a key topic in many areas of science and technology, especially when it comes to managing and minimizing risks. But how do we determine when a technology or a final repository is safe enough? Is the safest repository the one that protects us, or is a suitable one sufficient? What does the "best possible site" mean in terms of safety and environmental compatibility?
Additionally, there is the question of how universally valid emission limits are set. Who has the authority to help decide what is considered safe or acceptable, and how are these decisions made?
Sophie Kuppler would like to discuss these questions with you.

WHEN? 13 May 2025 from 12 a.m. to 2 p.m. WHERE? Karl9, Karlstraße 9, Karlsruhe Entry free, barrier free Starting with a keynote speech at 12 noon, you can join the discussion or leave at any time.
“Tell me, ITAS” is a series of events organized by ITAS in which researchers move their workplace to Karl9 - Wissenschaftslokal für Technik und Gesellschaft or to the TRIANGEL Transfer | Kultur | Raum once a week and answer your questions about their research topics.

BESSEr@KIT: Engagement that connects - Together for a better KIT
Information Events
Zoom
Jan-Michael Fritz, KIT, STS-QM

FSK? KPK? VS? StuPa?
MfG? Fzs? FS? StuWe?
ESU? DSW?
The participation opportunities for students at KIT are diverse. And isn't there much more?
Who represents me where? What exactly do "they" do? How can I easily get involved? How did it all come about in the first place? And most importantly: WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME? In this event from the BESSEr@KIT project, you will get a brief insight into the history of student engagement and the committee landscape.
How can you get involved? What do you need to do? And again: WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME? Current and former active students will tell you why they got involved, how they benefited from it, and continue to benefit from it.
Do you have any questions about your engagement opportunities? We are happy to take the time for that too!

We recommend participating via a PC/laptop, as a smartphone is needed for the interactive part.

Note: For later use, some of the Zoom presentations will be recorded, but only the presenter and the slides, not the discussion or other participants. If a recording takes place, you will be informed at the beginning.
